Ready to dive into the story of a magical Peruvian-Guatemalan wedding? Keep reading!

A year and a day ago today, we celebrated the beautiful wedding of Mily and Roni. Their religious ceremony took place at Queen of The Apostles Catholic Church in Alexandria, VA. After the ceremony, their guests headed to the cocktail hour and wedding reception at the Westfields Golf Club in Clifton, VA. This spot was perfect to host their 130 guests, some which traveled from Peru and Guatemala.

Six months prior to their wedding day, Mily had reached out to me looking to hire Bodamaestra for full wedding planning services. Their wish list included having Peruvian and Guatemalan elements throughout their wedding to honor their heritage. They also wanted a spectacular day that celebrated their 10+ year courtship.

Here are some of the highlights of this magical Peruvian-Guatemalan wedding:

-Mily and Roni’s first dance – a waltz called Danubio Azul.

-The father-daughter dance, performed to “Adios Pueblo de Ayachucho,” a song from Mily’s dad’s hometown in Peru.

-The beautiful sugar yellow flowers of their custom wedding cake (called flor de retama, a popular flower from Ayachucho, and Mily’s favorite flowers).

-The favors, which included mini bottles of Zacapa rum from Guatemala and Peruvian chocolates called Princesas.

-The Hora Loca, featuring music from the Andes region and the traditional characters from Peru, the “cholitos” and the cuy or guinea pig.

-“Estampas de Peru” performed traditional dances from Peru.

-Mily’s signature drink: Pisco sour, a traditional peruvian cocktail.

Congratulations on your first wedding anniversary, Mily and Roni!

XO,

Esme
