At Bodamaestra, we love providing insights about the best wedding venues we come across. After all, this is the single biggest decision you’ll make during your wedding planning process. For this reason, we have put together The Tannery Barn Wedding Guide. This Maryland wedding venue is located in Taneytown and is with no doubt a fantastic choice to host your wedding day celebration. Read below the insights of Esme Krahn, owner and holistic wedding planner and Bodamaestra founder.
WEDDING PLANNER Q&A | THE TANNERY BARN WEDDING GUIDE
Why do you like this wedding barn in Taneytown, Maryland?
First and foremost, I love historic venues and what they’ve done in this particular case to salvage the original building, turning it into gorgeous venue spaces: the Pavilion, the barn, the dressing suites, the courtyard, the balcony and their beautiful gardens – design wise, the options are endless! Having the flexibility of using different spaces to host the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception is golden. This way, weather is never a concern.
Additionally, couples have the option to have florals provided by renowned designer Victoria Clausen (who is also the venue owner). Victoria and her team do a great job designing and delivering beautiful florals to couples throughout Maryland and Washington, D.C. Take a look at this wedding Victoria and our team worked on together.
Lastly the natural backdrops during the Spring, Summer and Fall are breathtaking, bringing nature’s energy to the entire space.
Tannery Barn Wedding Cost Explained
It’s refreshing to see that the Tannery offers multiple options to make the most out of your wedding day. You can add decor rentals, including lounge furniture, bars and signage as part of your contract. A wedding planning tip: any time that you have the opportunity to secure a vendor or a service through your venue, please take it – especially if you do not have a full service wedding planner- this will save you a lot of time and frustration.
Tannery’s rental packages start at $8,000 for an 8-hour rental during low season. You can increase the rental time depending upon your specific needs. If more setup time is required, I recommend you upgrade and get more rental hours. You can even rent the venue for the entire weekend and take advantage of staying on the premises starting on Friday night and hosting your rehearsal dinner at the venue as well. We love easy logistics! As for the venue capacity, you can have up to 200 guests.
Does The Tannery Barn require a day of coordinator?
Yes, they do. The Tannery Barn venue requires at least a day-of coordinator. Learn more about Bodamaestra’s day-of coordination services, aka wedding management services . If you prefer, we also offer our full planning service! Either service can be combined with our holistic approach to planning if you feel you need extra emotional support. Weddings are magical and yet the planning journey can get a bit overwhelming. Our Holistic approach is one-of-a-kind and what separate us from others in the industry.
The Tannery Barn also offers its own in-house coordination and wedding design services. David and Colleen, the venue managers, are the ones taking care of you during this process, so you’ll be in amazing – and experienced – hands!
Catering Options at The Tannery Barn
The venue has a curated list of catering companies that have a proven record, which is great news for you. Why may you ask? Having a list of approved caterers means that the venue has evaluated their performance and they’re extremely satisfied working with them. It saves you time and reduces the risk of having an underwhelming dining experience. If you’d like to have ethnic food, the catering company must meet certain venue requirements. I recommend you check with the venue before finalizing your catering contract.
Tannery Barn Wedding Day Intangibles
The venue has 3 spaces for your wedding ceremony: the Gardens, the Pavilion and the Balcony. For photography each spot has a beautiful focal point, so you won’t be disappointed. Let’s say that this venue doesn’t have a bad angle!
Lastly, the Tannery’s getting ready space is one of the biggest we’ve seen and a perfect setting to take First Look, family, and wedding-party pictures. I especially love the bride’s suite, which connects to a loft area that is perfect for a moment of peace and solitude.
