Lisa + Omar: A Mexican-American Vintage Inspired Wedding

Lisa and Omar’s wedding was definitely one for the books!  Designing and planning this fiesta was exciting right from the start, as Lisa and Omar wanted to bring the authentic feeling of a traditional Mexican wedding to Shadow Creek Weddings in Purcellville, VA.  Omar is from Guadalajara and Lisa, a New England native who loves the Latin culture so much that she’s fluent in Spanish. She’s also quite a Mexican food connoisseur!

BILINGUAL WEDDING CEREMONY

Lisa and Omar had a bilingual wedding ceremony officiated by Rev. Dan Kane. Lisa said her wedding vows in Spanish and Omar said his in English.  Guests were quite impressed!

Their bilingual wedding program included an explanation of the Mexican lasso tradition as well as Blessing of the Hands, a Celtic ritual that goes back the year 7000 B.C.

Mariachi music couldn’t be missed! A band was ready to play el “Son de La Negra” as they processed for the first time as husband and wife.  This was our little secret and a big surprise to all guests, especially for Omar’s family who never in a million years expected a Mariachi from Guadalajara to perform in Purcellville, Virginia!

THE WEDDING MENU

As you can imagine, it was a must for this sweet couple to have a well curated wedding menu, from appetizers that included carnitas and shrimp ceviche to the main dishes that included handmade tortillas, Argentine style “asado” with boneless short ribs, salmon with papaya-mango-mint salsa, grilled nopales and green rice among other mouthwatering dishes!  To accomplish this, we chose Pampas Fox Catering, one of our favorite vendors we work with year round.

THE PRETTY DETAILS

So many little details were added in order to add the festive look that Lisa and Omar were looking for. To achieve it, Lisa and Omar went with fun colors: cobalt blue, bright orange and teal. The complementary colors were yellow and green. The custom talavera patterns and calligraphy you’ll see throughout were created by Lynn Theresa Designs. Guests loved our escort card tiles!

We added papel picado banners and little mini-flags to their signature drinks, classic Margaritas and Mojitos. Laura with Buttercup Florals helped us to bring together this Mexican fiesta with her floral designs that included peonies, garden roses, dollar eucalyptus and fern leaves.  Last but not least, Rudney Novaes captured the emotions and the beauty of the event.
